THE AGGROLITES ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR DATES
August 27, 2009
“The Aggrolites don’t just look to the Caribbean for inspiration. Just as the band’s beloved reggae came from the dangerous streets and back alleys of Jamaica, so too did American soul and funk, emerging in the ’60s and early ’70s deep in the core of the tense cities of that chaotic era.” – Ink, KansasCity.com (August 2009)
(August 26, 2009) As they round out a nearly 4-month tour throughout North America, Europe and Japan in support of their latest album IV (Hellcat), The Aggrolites show no signs of slowing down. They are one of only 13 acts hand-selected by Vans Warped Tour creator Kevin Lyman for the upcoming 15th Anniversary Celebration. The Aggrolites, 3OH!3, All-American Rejects, Bad Religion, blink-182, The Decaydance All Stars, Ice T, Katy Perry, NoFX, Ozomatli, Pennywise, Rise Against and Underoath will all perform at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on September 6. This will be filmed for a special event to air in more than 460 movie theaters on Thursday, September 17, at 8pm ET, 7pm CT, 8pm PT (tape delay). This two-hour spectacular will feature performance highlights, red carpet clips and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. Tickets and information are available at www.fathomevents.com and www.warpedtour.com.
The Aggrolites have just added a U.S. fall tour with shows on the West Coast, Southwest and Midwest that also includes two festivals. They will debut songs from IV to their Santa Barbara, CA fans at the 2nd Annual West Beach Music & Arts Festival. Taking place the weekend of September 18-20, The Aggrolites will be joined by Ben Harper & Relentless 7, Steel Pulse, Ozomatli and Slightly Stoopid. www.westbeachfestival.com. Then the dirty reggae bunch return to Chicago for the 5th Annual Riot Fest. Alkaline Trio, Butthole Surfers, NOFX and Street Dogs are among the punk-infused talents also to be showcased October 7-12. www.riotfest.org. See below for their detailed tour itinerary.
Having previously toured with Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys, The Aggrolites continue to satisfy their Irish punk rock fans. They will now support the beloved, politically-tinged legends of the genre, The Pogues. This will go down in mid-October at Club Nokia in Los Angeles and Marquee Theatre in Tempe. www.pogues.com
The musical-romantic comedy Bandslam, released August 14, 2009, features The Aggrolites hit “Free Time.” Bandslam follows an unlikely group of teenagers with a shared love of music who form a rock group and perform in the battle of the bands competition at their high school. It stars Vanessa Hudgens, Lisa Kudrow, Gaelan Connell and Aly Michalka. http://bandslam-movie.com/ This is yet another song added to the growing list of The Aggrolites’ movie and television music placements, which includes National Lampoon Endless Bummer, NBC’s Friday Night Lights, Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba, MTV’s The Hills and MTV’s Nitro Circus.
THE AGGROLITES are more than a band – they are a movement unto themselves. They carry a banner – one created with their own hands. This banner reads, “Dirty Reggae,” and represents their signature fusion of reggae, soul, grit and determination. For 7 magnificent years, this dirty reggae bunch has rolled from city to city, across the pond and up main street USA. They are Jesse Wagner (vocals, lead guitar), Roger Rivas (organ), Brian Dixon (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Roffredo (bass). Out of the Los Angeles school of hard knocks, The Aggrolites have earned a Ph.D in "feel good music." On the road they educate with the thunder and punch of reggae drums and bass, the ripping, soulful melodies of the organ and guitars, and Jesse’s voice – a gift from the heavens, a perfectly intact gift from Otis, Sam, Ray and Wilson. They have toured with Social Distortion, Madness, Rancid, Flogging Molly, 311, Dropkick Murphys, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Vandals, The Skatalites, The Aquabats and Hepcat. The Aggrolites have performed at such notable events as Vans Warped Tour, Coachella, Lowlands, Fuji Rock, Bumbershoot, SXSW, CMJ, Summerjam, Sundance Film Festival, Sunset Junction, Detour Music Festival and KROQ’s Weenie Roast. Their current album, IV, was released in June 2009. IV peaked at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Charts and is currently #14, while it debuted at #110 and peaked at #60 on the Triple A CMJ Charts.
